A Christmas Toast

Christmas comes but once a year
A time of joy, a time of cheer,
Families united, presents galore,
The feasting and chatting never a bore;
The laden tree glistening, lights burning bright,
What better to gather with an Eggnog each night,
Celebrate family and friends we hold dear,
While thinking of loved ones sadly not here;
But together or not they live in our heart,
A special safe place from which they shan't part.

A Frightful Buffet

Miss Muffet was a girl of thirteen, filled with youth's beauty and charm;
And a love of vibrant life zealous, like eager, vivid thunder of blue alarm.
She was a fine student, pert and popular; like the primrose popularity;
Or stars appearing at the designated hour, sparkling like crystal clarity.
Mary Muffet lived in a small town, with loving parents and her siblings,
Who sympathized with her fear of spiders; like colorful, fall misgivings.
Friends flanked their white picket fence, in fall days of glamour, striking;

A Sunshine Revolution

I was attending a birthday party, once when summer was young.
We played games on the back lawn, beneath the huge orange sun.
Colorful birds were tweeting, almost the way that people do,
To say good morning sunshine, what is new, and I do love you!
The guest of honor was a friend, at an all day crowded affair,
Like southern bound hummingbirds, which linger long in midair.
She'd thought she was coming to lunch, but she stayed for hours,

the toast of the town.
The proud, old guard has vanished,
with its dreams, yet unvanquished.
Hues light the plum night;
