Violet Sundance

Amid the vestiges of indigo nocturne,
The sky reverberates with anticipation.

The gradual rhythm of light
Breathes order and motion
Under the receding cloak
Of the once reigning night.

A solar sliver slips:
Belly to the horizon,
Song to the sky.

Golden beams
Awaken the lavender shadows
Whose delicate fingers reveal
The promise of renewed life

Creatures of day
Answer the summons and rejoice
For another day
Of light and wonder

Day has arrived,
And with it,
A carnival of movement:
A sundance.

Below our feet
Violet flowers incline their necks toward the sun
Basking in vibrance their melancholy petals
Struggle to reflect

Nevertheless
In the wake of light and colour
Their loveliness inspires
Nuance and calm in the riotous collage of day
A duality of celebration and repose

Day has sung her songs
She returns to rest
Relinquishing her melodies
To the mantle of night.
