A Boat Beneath A Sunny Sky
by Lewis Carroll

A BOAT beneath a sunny sky,
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July --
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear --
Long has paled that sunny sky:
Echoes fade and memories die:
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,

Life
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

L-ilacs, pink roses, plum tulips, and red daisies.
I-t's essential to sniff them, before they are gone;
F-or the fun lives are enjoying orange sunshine!
E-ver since birth, green has been everywhere.

Commander Adam Dalgliesh
by René Henrique Götz Licht

Alone, as he needs it
Detached from his outfit
Alter-ego of the perfect mate
Man, to admire and date

Delivers devices and desires
Alma-mater of circumspection
Loyal and trustful in all fires
Gentle but firm in intention
Lovable mind, deeply unknown heart

Orange Serenade
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

Orioles, blue jays, blackbirds, and red robins all sing
robustly to tangelo sun, as meadows and woods ring.
All through spring and summer gloss, as roses glisten,
Nature's noonday, jade heartbeats, cause all to listen!
Glittering gold on green lakes-an afternoon of amber,
Exotic trills rise, in quiet hours of persimmon glamour.

Saffron songs swell in the orange peel, blossom fields,
entrancing them into a dark orange dance of the hills.
Rivoli's hummingbird hums, in a purple and teal coat

The Secret Garden
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

L-et the golden silence reign absolute;
U-nwelcome is noise in the house of thought.
S-o much to explore in the universe of mind,
H-ued richly with precious gems of every kind!
L-ight enters inside, so glintingly beautiful,
I-nk takes on new images and shapes, blackly.
B-ees breeze by August, seeking their honey,
R-abbits hop high grass, down in the country.
A-bove, the milky stars compel us to wonder,
R-acing toward scintillating, blazing infinity.

Gus' 12th Street Café
by Joe Cyr

(acrostic)

Good food is the reason people come here to eat;
Unless you try Gus' Café, you'll miss a fine treat.
Soup specials with most of your lunches each day;
'tis the place to eat in Sarasota, they say.

1st class cooking always takes place in this kitchen;
2nd to none around, especially the chicken.
The place to come also to enjoy fine beef stew,

Boy & Girl Scouts
by Joe Cyr

(acrostic)

Despite a world cursed with greed and conceit,
One, at times, may receive in the street

A kind deed, done without motivation.

Great feats aren’t in this category,
Only simple deeds but transitory.
One kind work in self-deprecation

Marshmallow Clouds
by Evelyn Judy Buehler

Masses of creamy clouds give me pause, in sweetest summer,
as they drift away like honey dreams, in lazy days of slumber.
Radiant, world class travelers, changing colors like sun jewels,
sharing secrets, like winking stars, in mystic, creeping rituals.
Here today, gone tomorrow, like pink dragonfly, gilded by sun.
Maybe faces will soon be imagined, in forms, so like gold, spun.
Always they seem very near, from green mountaintop so lofty,
letting one have a glimpse of heaven, while enjoying a coffee.
Lavender and lace is oft seen at even, floating off to nowhere,
or perhaps to rest in mysterious, gemmed bedrooms in the air.
