Fleeting Testaments
by Thomas Casteel

(Canto I, verse one.)
As I sat upon a wave-battered shore,
Near to the door of the next phase,
I watched as a standing shadow inched closer.
With stinging wounds and loss of claret,
I propped up to get a better look.
Each second the shadow continued
its image engorged and encompassed my view.
Soon the figure was so close I could smell it:
Rotten and yet a hint of vegetation.

Drinking With Satan
by Jeffrey Pipes Guice

Passed out on the damp concrete stairs...
Along Lake Pontchartrain...
Surrounded by empty gin bottles...
Remembering nothing but my first name...

As I rubbed my bloodshot eyes...
Seeing nothing at all but red...
As Satan’s wicked minstrels play loudly...
Drums pounding in my throbbing head...

A Walk down the Tunnel
by Somali Mukherjee

“Darkness does embalm;
All things, getting calm,
Produce an eerie feeling;
Can it serve with a healing?”

“Aye, aye, sure, sure!
Such feelings do us lure,
To approach its end.”
“Can we reach, my friend?

A Girl Who Stood for Sabbath
by Carl Rex

I know a girl, oh she is so sweet
But more than that there's no deceit
She tries to keep God's Holy day
And please Him daily in every way.

When you play the devil’s advocate...
You’re on the side of Satan...
When you venture to the dark side...
For your redemption, you’ll be awaitin’...

If you go knockin’ on Satan‘s door...
Sooner or later she’ll invite you in...
She’ll take you by the hand...
And seduce you with her grin...

Shards of Satan

Piercing my soul...
Blinding my eyes...
Shredding my very existence...

Slicing my wrists...
Ripping my heart...
Shredding my very existence...

Mulching my memories...
Eviscerating my imagination...

Not Every Soul Makes Into Heaven

Save me from myself, dear God...
And from my wretched past...
I’ve paid the ultimate penance...
In this inferno of hell ever last...

I’ve learned the important lessons...
From all my evil ways...
Give my soul some peace, dear God...
In these long and final days...
