A Story Unfinished
by Tammy Darby

From the void of infinity,
I retrieved words desperately sought
Craving the full impact of my letters
No matter the harm to my soul it wrought

Obsession forces me from my slumber bed rise
Waiting patiently where the secret magic lies.
Visions of monsters and fierce warrior queens
That emerge willingly from deep long dreams

Galactic Traveler
by Tammy Darby

I cautiously entered the infamous portal of time
On my way in
Ignoring cosmic law
Misaligned planets
Into a crooked line

Emboldened plucked shining meteorites from over my head
Examining them closely before tossing them like sand
Tones of god yellow, twilight green, space blue, and sunspot red
Cavorted with comets aflame across infinite star-sprinkled skies

Three Color Charlie
by Tammy Darby

Charlie was born in February on a winter’s day to his mom Kiki Niki a Chi and his dad Scooter II a Chihuahua. His mother had scruffy fluffy hair and she was blonde with a curled-up tail.
His daddy dog was brown with a curled-up tail like his wife Kiki. They were small dogs and very fit they because they exercised a lot chasing cats and each weighed about 6 pounds. Scooter liked to sit on his owner’s lap, but Kiki liked lots of noise, hopped and barked all the time. She acted like she was 50 lbs. though and yapped and yapped, in her high voice.

They were the Ruff Ruff Family, they lived on 113 Puppy Lane, Bow Wow Street in Dogville with 4 puppies of their very own.
Charlie was small and he had 2 brothers and a sister, and they were all brown like the daddy dog, but Charlie, looked different from all of them. He had long hair like mama dog, but hers was pretty and wavy and his was wispy like a horse’s tail and looked like the wind just blew through it. And a gray stripe down his back. But his colors were not like Kiki’s or Scooters.
He didn’t really look like his mama or daddy dog.
He was grayish-brown with tan markings on his face over his eyebrows, on his chest and his legs had tan on them like socks.

The puppies got bigger and nosier, some got lighter and others darker, but Charlie's colors never changed, and his hair got scruffier and fluffier. Little whiskers sprouted out from the sides of his nose, on his chin, mouth and he had eyes like little twinkling shiny stars.
His brothers and sister teased him calling him names like Fliffy Fluffy and Scruffy Nuffy. It sure made Charlie mad and hurt his feelings but what could he do? He didn’t look like them and he was funny colored. So, he didn’t play with them at all and stayed is his dog room.

The Battle and the Garden
by Tammy Darby

The world watched somber knowing what was to come
While mortals were fast becoming jaded
They fruitlessly reached for the purity of the heavens
Endless appetites had they for the perverse are never sated

Self-consuming and deceitful
They began to think themselves Lords
Their bodies sacred and holy
So too their arrogant words
