On Health
by Jan Kochanowski

My good and noble health,
Thou matter'st more then wealth.
None know'th thy worth until
Thou fad'st, and we fall ill.

And every man can see,
In stark reality,
And every man will say:
"'Tis health I need today".

Poverty as a Pandemic Pain
by Ololade Raji

Life in the hood means nothing without a livelihood as those in the hood will choose livelihoods over lives. Maybe you now know why the frenzy virus feeds on your lives through the hunger of those in the hood

But if you fear the virus and still value your life above your livelihood, then, you are not in the hood. And you better not leave those in the hood to leave the hood for food and the virus

For it is good to move their food to the hood so they remain in the hood, then, you would not need to brood over their covid moves to leave their hood

I hope you know the gloom that looms if you do not give a hoot and look beyond loots. Have I just told you how to woo those in the hood with food to stay at home?

If you do not believe that you need food to ease the pandemic pains in the hood, you would neither believe in the corona dirge for a sweet aunt nor a word from this howl

I am the Shadow in the Storm
by Robert Chase

The certainty of life’s completion is as clear as crystal
The hubris of youth recedes with each crease and line reflected in the mirror
The days of childrearing are nearing their end
Many are content to sit on their haunches to observe and advise
I refuse to wear the comfortable shawl - to rest in numb comfort
I rise - I stretch - I pick up my pack and venture forth
I will die gripping and squeezing the last drop of sunlight from my final day
Death needs that scythe to cut me down
I do not consent - I do not yield
I am the shadow in the storm catching the lightning

Progressive Health
by Carl Dennis

We here at Progressive Health would like to thank you
For being one of the generous few who've promised
To bequeath your vital organs to whoever needs them.

Now we'd like to give you the opportunity
To step out far in front of the other donors
By acting a little sooner than you expected,

Tomorrow, to be precise, the day you're scheduled
To come in for your yearly physical. Six patients

Panorama
by Georgia H

I'm trying to find a new perspective of me;
To learn to accept my mountains, valleys, and plains.
To learn to find beauty in my own landscape.
To develop a whole new panorama of the world.

107. Withheld
by Kea Campbell

There's a horrifying creak that grows more brittle in unwelcome and unkind time.
It's ripping apart at each ablated site and teases my mind with the end of my time.

Muffled through my chest are groans, exhausted, weak, and flooding with pain.
No one does realize, and I won't tell a soul, that one ghost pump could mark my final day.

It's a blessing to wake up and think, because it means you still know you're alive.
So take advantage of all the ways to twist your brain and exercise your mind's inclines.

It's a blessing to see, taste, touch, and smell; so, experience the earth while you still can.

Truth 2
by Ghairo Daniels

TRUTH 2

Truth came to stroke, hold with joke
sprinkle justice and joy
transform lies with tears
lift hearts from holes
with bells on her toes

Out of the dirt, up the stairs
eating mushrooms with dare

Work 'Em
by Stewart Watkins

Push 'em, pull 'em, dip 'em, and squat'em.
Whatever you do, just don't neglect 'em

Aptly say no to loose and flabby
And yes, to tight 'cause loose is too shabby

No gym membership, Bowflex, or Peloton?
No worries 'cause pushing, pulling, dipping and squatting
will never be outdone

Fit Covid-19
by Stewart Watkins

Pushups and planks
Now armpits stank.

Roping and jumping
Outdoors I'm loving

Kicking and punching
Tension and stress I'm releasing

Netflix on house arrest
