Though it holds many answers
So too does the mirror present many questions
The righteous existence of a soul
The solemn eyes that stare into it
Projecting endless depth and flawed perfection

The sky falling on your head?
That you would perish quietly in the night
Never waking from the dead
Or that you would offer your heart
Only to see it politely declined
Perhaps it is the thought the world will consume you
In the midst of youth's dawn
Or the coming of old age creeping
Leaving you so withdrawn

Or the winged devils of the dark one
In their fiery flight
The shadow that sat in the corners of my life
Destroying my heart in its cursed poor plight
Never again will I fear the sound of approaching steps
Nor hide my trembling in madness and its depths
Quite freely I now walk boldly head high in the light
And laughed in victory when the winged devils fled
And in my fear of soul took flight.
