The Measure Of Americanism

To be an American is a sacred treasure
To be a loyal American is our full measure
So to work . . . . Despite dark doubt and eerie fear
By restoring American confidence far and near
The task is great. It cannot be done alone
Yet a drop of water once broke a stone!
"Renew in me a steadfast spirit, Oh God"
Might now become the American Prayer
Of President, his advisors, governors, and mayor
All a little lower than angels, and therefore, prone to err-
But as surely as the milk white snows of winter
Are washed away by the grass and green of spring
"Truth crushed to earth shall rise again"
Like a blue bird on the wing!
MY WAY I live for those who love me
For those who know me true
For the Heaven that smiles above me
And awaits my spirit, too
For the cause that lacks assistance
For the wrong that needs resistance
For the future in the distance
And the good that I can do
