I achieved greatness, I guess I defied mine.
You said it was over, you saw the redline
I kept on going, thank God I’m colour blind

I failed the first time and you told me to quit
I guess you don’t know the true meaning of grit
Discourage me again and you might collide with a brick
Don’t dim my light just because you can’t find yours

The sound of winning?

Rolling out of bed
the smell of bitter morning air ringing through her nose
cold, creaky wooden floors licking at her feet
the sigh of a teenage girl looking at herself in the mirror
this is the sound of winning
That girl ate breakfast today
she walked to school
and she wasn't snappy around her parents
this is the sound of winning
that girl got through the day without falling asleep
