A living hall of mirrors
Deep in the ground
Drawing from the well
Piecing together
Shard by shard
Glittering wholeness

I am no ghost

And I’ve chosen to be with you.
We go together, bound for life.
Your light may drown me out by day,
But I am always with you
Beyond the blue sky.
When your light recedes,
contained and settled in the moon,

And nature crawls from the swamp
Muddy, decayed,
Proud, unafraid,
I’ve never stopped.
Stopped.
Dead in my tracks.
Where there’s no love,
My heart contracts.

Who am I to choose who lives and dies?
All boats float on a rising tide
I see what’s worthy
And this scurvey sea dog
Is not so impervious
To the ravages of time any more.
