Jesus Wept

They insist every fetus is a child,
but they don't mind putting immigrant children in cages along the border for a while.
Or separating them from the parents, they're criminals after all.
If the poor are unhappy, they can't understand why.
Why can't they be more like us? they ask with a sigh.
If they don't have insurance, whose fault is that?
We can't take care of everyone, it's as simple as that.
I'm afraid of all these poor people, I hear them say.
They're dirty and vile. Can't someone make them go away?
I know what we'll do: let's build a great wall,

They shot another one of us today.
And a storm is rising just beyond the horizon line –
a great wave of snow, sleet, and ice.
Ice I fear the most.

Another man is dead in the street.
And this storm will bring downed lines –
many will be warmed by wood stoves and generators.
I feel so damn alone.

"you don’t debug the fire by blowing it out."
i said:
" do you have some fire in you, you want me to blow out?
i have a bag of left over ice in the freezer, in case.
cause i do not have a fire extinguisher in the house,
therefore ice comes handy.
yeah, i am that firefighter, fighting fire with ice."
