bobbing in the blue sky bathtub
on the middle morning breeze

twin spruce guarding
sparrow house flanks
from ferociously feral cats

sundial shadows
belie still feet

corduroy elbow patches and
checkerboard leather buttons

he looks like he has a score to settle

he's mostly bald under his
brown-wool newsboy cap
i know because the spot

bounce across the stream
as if begging for one last glimpse
of the rainbow-toned sunset

as they skip across
the fast current surface
before sinking into a watery grave
as i throw them to their death
