Olive and an Oak Tree

Swirling black rapids run forming waterfalls that cascaded around me and swallowed me whole

Ivory amber windstorms wilted my defenses and left me exposed to the elements

Branches of an oak tree oversaw my staggering and stretched out to offer me shade, carrying me to safety

Leaning against its bark I bring my gaze out toward the canopy.

It washed over me that nothing had ever been so grand or great or tall. And I was happy, yes, happy, to be near it, and made to feel so small.
