Growing Old

Holding hands like two small children;
They stood waving through the window.
For a moment time stood still,
As the anguish of the past and present
Flickered across their lined faces.
For they were not children anymore.

Life had taken it's toll, and the ravages
Of time was plain to see.
There was fear of what the future may hold,
For the past had already been told.
The need for comfort and solace was there.
Time had been lost, there's no more to spare.

May the shackles of pain fall away from their lives,
And the kingdom of heaven will open their eyes,
To a love,
Which is greater that anything here,
God rest, and God keep them
For they are so dear.
