Yesterday's

it seems like only yesterday,
That I was just a child at play,
Looking back through all those years,
Seeing my mother wiping my tears.
Time, gone so fast, in the blink of an eye,
I didn't notice it passing by.
Those teenage years were full of fun,
Not just for me, but for everyone.
I see myself as a teenage bride,
With a handsome husband by my side.
Soon with babies at my knee,
A busy mother, content to be.
Two little girls and two little boys,
Love and laughter, tears and joys.
Yet, far too soon, even they have grown,
And married with families of their own.
Alone married with families of their own.
Alone and lonely, now I am free,
But I look in the mirror and what do I see?
Just an old woman, wrinkled and grey,
Trying to fill a lonely day.
I did not notice the years passing by
And now that I'm older I ask myself why?
My days were all filled not a moment was free,
No time to wonder what the future will be.
Now this old lady will sit here and sigh,
She didn't belong in those years long gone by.
Time now to ponder on whatever may be,
Til the Grim Reaper comes looking for me!
