Meadowsweet

I wandered by a riverside,
Where meadows meet a clear blue sky
With thoughts of my homeland far away
And its lush green meadows where children play
With flowers growing brightly, waving in the breeze.
Where you can run and laugh as you please.
With raindrops on petals making droplets of dew
In that lovely meadow that I once knew.

It lingers on in my memory
As these precious dreams grow old with me.
But my spirit is light as I dream of that place
And it dances with joy and sings with delight
As I wander by this river so bright
With thoughts of my homeland far away
And the lovely meadow where I used to play
Where church bells ring and the meadow lark sings
As it builds its nest in the sweet scent of spring.
