Off To School

Over the fields, and through the woods
We traveled off to school
Snow belly deep
Frost bitten faces, and cold, cold feet
We traveled a mile, walked everyday
Couldn't have it, any other way
Teacher met us at the door
Sat by the pot bellied stove, half a day
Because clothes were wet, and had to dry
Recess here, outside for a bit
Throwing snowballs sure to be hit
Soon it's home, classes dismissed
Bundle up, everyone
For it's a long, long way before you're home
