Artist Supreme

God the great artist comes to our garden every spring
And paints happy faces on the pansies there
He crowns the tulips with yellows and reds
And sprinkles gold centers on the daisies with care On a sky-blue summer day he takes cloud-brush in hand
And paints cowboys and indians and fancy rings
Snow-white warriors riding horses up high
Castles and giants and all manor of things At the coming of fall he's in his glory
Little by little he touches each leaf so tender
Until suddenly the whole world is ablaze
And the forests burst forth in golden splendor On a freezing winter's day his frosty work is seen
As he etches wonderful shapes on cold window panes
Dragons and damsels and knights of old
Beautiful lace-work and crocheted chains Down through the ages none can compare
For He is the greatest artist of all
And to us He makes His beauty known
In winter, spring, summer and fall
