the ground doesn’t need you yet

my love, the hall is dancing, do you see it
do you see the way colors blend and fade
the way the willows call your name
the way the earth groans and shakes
it is not ready for you yet

my love, the sea is screaming, do you hear it
angry cusps of crushing waves, they push you back to shore
the molten melting crust it doesn’t beg for more
your sizzling rose heart it may need more thorns but it still aches to stay upright

my hands slick sweat against your skin
hot with the feelings of “almost never got to again”
your blue pierces black, you nearly couldn’t take it back
and the hall dances away but it doesn’t collapse
