Lull Of The Sea

The silver strand of fading day
has slipped behind the sea
Reflections slowly lose their glow
as evening calls to me.

When heaven sparks its candlelight
and hangs the moon on high;
It spies the ruffled petticoats
that sweeps and mystify.

The rhythmic break of waves on shore--
nepenthe to the brain--
Is anodyne to restless soul
and peace with moonlight's wane.
