Alzheimer's Disease

We carefully weave a web of memories for others to look upon with awe and wonder
Fragile threads of tasks and traditions that bind our friends and families together.
Yet when rains of grief and chaos strike at our precious web
Then we like that spider of wisdom must look on with agony
As our friends and loved ones fall victim to the preying Alzheimer's disease:
Strong people of enormous intellect eroding into frail wisps of humanity.
When the storm is over and nothing's left except sticky remains of our web;
Some scant facts recorded in dusty books or kept on outdated software.
Then, like the spider, we must weave a new web of memories and carry on
Never stop praying for a cure one day to end this cruel disease.
