Identity

The land lay still and starry white
The path went forth into the night My boots crunched on the crusty snow
that fell’ fore twilight's eerie glow. Stars shone bright and Milky Way
Caused watcher thoughtfully to say, Were I to follow self-same path
Would I escape mankind’s mad wrath? Would I find some mystic balm
That would lead to some peace and calm? Would I see in parts out yonder
only more to stop and ponder, Tho’ unsatisfied with life I be,
"Tis best for all that I be me."
