We’re the monkeys in a cage
With a ladder and a prize.
But every time we climb the stage,
We get a cold surprise.
We learn to fear the consequence
Of reaching for our dreams.
We conform to the common sense
Of what is and what seems.
We’re replaced by other ones
Who never question why.
They must avoid the radiant suns
That blaze across the sky.
We stop them if they dare to change
The so called rules that we obey.
We think that they are weird and strange
That’s how we keep them at bay.
We’re the monkeys in the matrix
With a code and a lie.
But every time we glimpse the helix
We choose to close our eye.
We’re afraid of the unknown
Of what lies beyond the veil.
We are content with what is shown
And never try to bail.
We’re victims of their schemes
Caught in a web of lies and deceit.
We’re trapped within their twisted dreams
Our struggles, they choose to mistreat.
We follow them without a doubt
To serve their covert scheme.
We don’t know what it’s all about
That’s how we play the scene.
