Maturity

Maturity is not about your age,
Or how many books you've read,
Or how well you can argue.

It’s knowing
When to let go
Of people,
Of places,
Of patterns
That no longer serve you.

It’s learning
To walk away quietly
When the noise starts disturbing
Your peace of mind.

It’s choosing silence
Over shouting,
Distance
Over forced presence,
Respect
Over being right.

You don’t leave with anger.
You leave with clarity.
Cause you've seen enough
To know
Not every fight is worth your energy,
Not every bond is worth bleeding for.

Maturity is stepping out of circles
Where your values feel like a joke,
Where your self-respect
Gets chipped away slowly,
Smile by smile,
Comment by comment.

It’s noticing
When a situation
Starts feeling too expensive
For your soul.
And having the courage
To say:
“This isn’t for me.”

You stop begging for understanding.
You stop explaining your worth.
You simply walk.
Head high,
Heart intact.

Because real growth
Isn’t loud.
It doesn’t post goodbye messages.
It doesn’t crave applause.

It just leaves
When peace is no longer present,
When morals are treated as weakness,
When your dignity feels
Like it’s being borrowed
On someone else’s terms.

And in that quiet exit,
You realize
This too
Is strength.
