A Stranger's Smile

I walk in the stillness of the night,
Not a breeze to toss my hair,
No coolness on my shoulders bare.
Just the weight of the heat,
The weight of my heart. The stars my path to follow,
The moon by guiding light,
I walk with no companion,
This lonely, sultry night.
Alone with my thoughts. My heart beat quickens, as a stranger slowly approaches,
I know him not, yet,
the look about his face is familiar.
I see myself in this strangers face. Aware of each other, a smile exchanged.
We continue our separate ways. In a strangers smile I found myself.
Without a spoken word, without a touch.
At that moment, I knew, I was not alone.
