too many times

Too many times now I look up from this cushion
inventing new rules in search of escape
But too many times now I avert execution
convincing myself this blackness I see is a drape

Too many times now I get off at this alley
mending my want keeping restless my bones
but too many times now I sense a tread by me
only to turn back reminding to be left alone..

Too many times now I drink up from this bottle
tuning dry lips to the cry of each hour
but too many times now I gaze thro’ the bottom
to remember the brilliance of timeless sky flowers.

Too many times now I scent this rich fruit
plaguing with self-pity brightest of bells
But too many times now I take this one route
as if challenging sidewalks to bend by themselves.

Too many times now I reach out from here
Compelling whole stages with words wallowed in mettle
But too many times now you disappear
leaving ponderous glares to pierce where air has rattled.

Too many times now we arrive at this spring
centuries fondled by brushstrokes of moonlight
but too many times now as we thrive as we sing
illusive reflection so promising forms to lead you outside..
