Soaring On High

The planes were flying busily
As I ate lunch at the airport.
It seems to be so strange
That you're not up in the sport.

This was a perfect sunny day
To be sailing across the sky.
We used to soar through the air
And loved the freedom found on high.

I sit and look at your chair
And remember the joys we shared.
Our enjoyment was better
Because you really cared.

We flew through sun and rain
When necessity or pleasure called.
I navigated while you flew
And nothing ever stalled.

In memory I see you
With love in your eyes and a smile.
Some day I'll meet you
But it may be a little while.
