Marble Statue of Venus

Within its cavern inside the Earth, the Sun
Warms the water
That warms the stone
Whose thousand voices rise
And warm the fabric of my body.

Yes, the universe is large,
But when it strikes against its outermost limit,
It rebounds back upon itself
Closing tighter and tighter and tighter
Until it shoots through a gap the size of a pinhead
That sits in the centre of your mind.
And that's when it really starts to grow
Much larger than it ever could in the physical world
Through a gap the size of a pinhead
And out the other side of your mind.

Digging in the snow
I found a perfect marble statue of Venus.
She was smooth and beautiful
And invited me to lie with her.
I gazed into her eyes
Until I could see through the pinhead gap at the centre of her mind
And swam through the Infinity on the other side.
Eight pelicans flew
Through the pink and orange sky beneath the surface of the water.
Their call echoing far into the distance.
And me beside them
Like a quartz crystal split in half and polished smooth,
Revealing the full tapestry of its existence.
