Tell Mother

Rose realized that she never knew
How much she loved her mother
Until they had taken her
To the church for the last time.
Rose gazed upon her mother,
Who was so still and so silent.
O Lord, she had been so active.
Rose agonized, "Why did I not tell her
How dear and precious she was to me?
Why is my heart so tender
When her ears can no longer hear?"
Rose prayed fervently
For an unspoken bond between them
Which told her mother all the things
That she wanted to say.
Will others learn from this poem
And tell their mothers
While yet there is time?
What a blessing it would be.
