My Selfish Vow

I look at you, cheerful and joyous;
Your presence, your laughter, your voice.

You're too precious to even take a risk;
To me, you're the most valuable, a brisk.

You, the one who protects me from each storm;
In each cold dismay, your hand as an anchor warm.

I'm too young to swear an oath, to protect you, they say;
Yet I won't let anything take you away.

In my life, you're a precious gift,
I won't lose you, to the destiny's drift.

No matter the hurdles we get,
I'm not ready to lose you just yet.

Losing you would be losing it all,
Everything in the name of achievements people call.

Without you, I can't imagine my own self;
I'd be like a library with an empty shelf.

The fear of losing, the situation's occasional torment—
I won't ever be ready to lose you any moment.

The flowers wither, the leaves fall;
Everything ends—grand or small.

But for you, I won't accept this fate;
Not this soon, not later, maybe not ever;
For an angel like you,
I'll even make the divine wait.

I'll rewrite the stars, I'll defy the inevitable;
I refuse to believe, from my life, you're separable.

I'm selfish, for now, maybe forever;
I'll keep you with me,
Won't let you go, not now, not ever.

To the best of my capabilities, I'll protect;
To keep us whole, to keep the bond intact.

In the life of loss and grief,
Your love, your presence,
In my life, this won't be just brief.
