Skinny Legs

My skinny legs, my skinny legs
Echoes of my childhood days
With legs like broomsticks
And taunts along the way

Boys will be boys,
Always teasing little girls
I know I was there
As there was nowhere else to go

They’d draw pictures of pegs
As they taunted me
Shaped into paper planes
And they would set them free

They’d aim them at me
And it would make me cry
Which would make them laugh
At my skinny legs

My skinny legs, my skinny legs
The object of such ridicule
My skinny legs, my skinny legs
The reason that I disliked my school

But years went by
When the world of fashion
Would pounce upon me eagerly
And for pictures of me, they would beg

A glimpse of numerous magazines
With a close-up of my so-called pegs
Would grace the fashion pages boldly
Not a bad outcome for my skinny legs.
