A Beautiful Mistake

The onset of our fragile bond was blissful, as could be
Oh, our ties seemed a certain divine symphony.

It felt like you were the wind that sails my ship,
The smile to my joy and tears to my weep.

The chorus that adds melody to my song,
Committing each other to take it long.

We, as a matching set, had my heart race,
Seemed everything fell perfectly right into the place.

You were the sudden spark that lighted me up,
Everything that I ever had dreamed of.

We reached the pinnacle way too soon,
Reality is, you climb down when you conquer the moon.

Over time, the chorus became a tuneless beat,
Time consumed a melody that once made me feel complete.

All I did was keep my promise,
Never did I know; it would root my demise.

As my heart shattered, I felt myself shriek,
What was once beautiful is now a beautiful mistake.
