So Beautiful And So Fleeting

“So beautiful and so fleeting”;
One and then another, repeating
So quickly, too quickly I feel.
Can beauty as fleeting be real?

It’s late in many ways.
There’s not nearly enough days;
Not enough weeks or even years…
By seconds I’m damned to tears!

I want to stop caring at all
I want to stop jumping and fall
There’s no reasons given to me
There’s nothing left I want to be

I’ve had all I want; I’m complete,
But one by one I repeat.
Coming and going’s my skill
For all I’m worth, I want to be still

“So beautiful and so fleeting”;
One and then another, repeating
I’m so beautiful and so fleeting
Over and over, I’m repeating

Be still a moment, I’m tired
Of being seen and admired
Get out of line; I’m retired
Pack your things; you’re fired

I want to go home to the trees.
And worship the dirt on my knees
While time is taken from my hands
And I finally dust them of its sands

I would bury it deep in the ground
For all its beauty I have found
And I would whisper to the sky
Its every truth and every lie

…maybe then could I die.
