I Am Sailing

I am sailing
into the wide,unspeaking blue,
where horizon and memory
blur into one continuous ache.

The water does not ask questions,
it only carries
what cannot be held
on land.

Each wave a whisper
of something I left behind,
of someone,
a name I mouth in silence
so the wind won't hear.

The sail stretches
like my chest
aching to hold more
than breath.

Seagulls cry
as if they know
what it is to miss
something
you've never truly had.

I watch the shoreline fade,
but it is not distance
that hurts-
it is how the soul reaches
even as the body lets go.

I am sailing
not to arrive,
but to drift
toward the place
where your absence
feels closest.
