Fool

I danced in dreams too bright to keep,
a jest in joy,a clown asleep.
I chased the stars with outstretched hands,
built castles high on shifting sands.

They laughed-I laughed-I played the part,
a painted grin,a hollow heart.
Yet in my eyes, the world was wide,
with truth the wise had learned to hide.

Call me fool, and call me free-
for I still see what you won't see.
Not bound by fear, nor pride, nor rule,
the wisest soul may be the fool.
