The rhythmic sound of oars through water,
Rowing, drifting, gliding down a calm river.
The calm silver ribbon of water,
Makes my soul; my grateful heart quiver.
Bulrushes gently waving as you drift by,
The Bittern in the rushes; head held high.
The shimmering peaceful water all aglow,
Birds resting in treetops; the Rook and the Crow.
The Kingfisher perched on a Weeping Willow!
Watching for movement in the water below,
In the sunshine; the Kingfisher flashes blue!
Rising from the water with a Minnow or two.
Rowing back; the river now a golden hue.
Mute Swans in "V" formation come into view,
Gliding over the water like Angels from on high,
Natures gift, coming from out of the evening sky.
