“. . . Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things.” Matt. 17
When will the Lord deign to deliver me
that I may become a bit more like He?
Tell me, my Savior, that which I must know:
Who shall lead me to where I need to go?
Which course is right; how may I tell what’s wrong?
Am I in the flock to which I should belong?
--
Restore all things, O Lord; repair now our souls.
Stir our lonely spirits; rekindle love’s hot coals.
Somewhere, we veered from the righteous path,
Lost the priceless key to life’s aftermath.
Why does it seem, even when all goes well
we yield to that which sin can us propel?
Remember us, Lord, when our things go wrong;
lift our heads high and keep our faith lifelong.
--
Restore all things, O Lord; forgive us our faults.
Help us keep the faith which evil oft assaults.
Why do we stumble and then sometimes fall
in the vineyard amid bitter grapes of gall?
Yes, life is short, and eternity long;
I must strive to live, to learn, to be strong.
Someday I will see that which I desire:
that hallowed place to which we all aspire.
--
Restore all things, O Lord; we shall mend our ways
so that we may attain those blissful promised days.
