Eye of the Storm

Within the fiercest tempests lie
a zone of quiet, called the eye.
Where sky is blue and breezes light;
a world of peace ‘mid storm of fright.

‘Tis enclosed by a solid wall
of deadly winds, and rain and squall.
But inside that savage devastation
lies peace and quiet and, yes, Salvation.

I liken Faith to the Eye of that storm,
where blue skies and peaceful zephyrs warm
reward those who endure the winds of trouble.
But to stay within demands constant struggle.

The Eye, of course, moves with the storm
on unknown track - so here be warned.
If we in that tranquil Eye would stay,
we must trust in God and keep His Way.

I set out a course for Faith to win,
to brave the gales and assault of sin.
My boat was rigged to withstand the storm;
I thought myself prepared - in fittest form.

I sailed the blow, did towards center tack,
and kept on going - never looked back.
For there dwells temptation and depths of sin,
so I forged ahead, steering to win.

The untroubled Eye of Faith was not very far;
‘mid that vortex’d galaxy I was but a star.
As I neared the center of the tempest
the winds whirl’d faster, confusion densest.

At the violent winds of that center wall,
I could not advance further at all.
So near was my Faith, yet so remote;
a few inches more to move my boat. I was near distress, and looked around,
but no earthly remedy could be found.
The thing I did that dismal day,
was bow my head and start to pray.

Then the Lord reached out! He took my hand
and pulled me through that savage band.
And all at once, was my Faith restored,
due to blessed rescue from the Lord.

He told me then, “I pulled thee through;
to remain inside is up to you.”
I learn’d the secret to remain within,
free from earthly trials, rescued from sin.

The Secret to remaining within the Eye
is to follow the Lord, keep His Word nigh.
If you can remain therein with full success,
you will reap Salvation and be ever bless’d.
