Aw've bin deawn to look at th' ' Bright ' relics to-day,
An' reet interestin' they are:
Aw couldno' ha' wished for a finer display,—
They surpass expectations bi tar.
Ther's treasured mementoes uv o sorts on show,
'At bring back fond memories dear,
For they each serve i' turn some fresh halo to throw
On eawr distinguished teawnman's career.

Uv portraits o' th' Tribune, they hev quite a host,
An' they form an imposin' array ;
But Ouless's paintin' attracted me most,—
A masterpiece sure in its way !
It's th' gem o' th' collection, fro' my point o' view,
An' aw daresay 'at others think th' same;
For th' portrait itsel looks so life-like an' true,
'At it seems to be livin' i' th' frame.

Ther's busts an' engravin's, ther's cartoons an' prints,
An' pappers an' pamphlets bi th' scooar ;
Each showin' his greytness, an' givin' us glints
Uv his motives, high-minded an' pure.
His biographies, too, number quite a fair creawd,—
Strikin' eulogies, everyone ;
Enuff in thersels to mek Rachda' feel preawd
At hevin' produced sich a son.

Th' certificate's theer, too, recordin' his birth,
An' likewise his first little cheear ;
An' other rare relics, beyond price or worth,
'At aw connot describe for yo here.
But should yo desire mooar aheawt 'em to know—
For aw've towd yo th' plain truth, mind —nowt else,
If yo're i' th' teawn this week, give th' Art Gallery a coAn' see what they're like for yorsels.
