What Gods do you Serve

The ones on high
Or the fiery ones below
Is it an all-encompassing deity you worship
Are they singular or multiple
Do they have 6 eyes and 4 arms
Appear when the sky darkens
Or only when the four winds blow

What gods do you serve
The wise and merciful
Or only those who are strong
Do they wear a crown of rubies on three heads
Are they giants or spirits
Are their names spoken reverently in ancient songs

What gods do you worship
Those who as tribute demand sacrifice and blood
Since man began to express his thoughts in script on stone
These gods have existed
Often violent and misunderstood

What gods do you serve
The mother earth and her children
Or the red demons of the shadowlands
Those who use the threat of damnation as a means of control
Or gentle gods who would and without reservation take your hand

What gods do you worship
Those of Karma and reincarnation
The gods of the seas, mountains or underworld
The lions on golden sands who have sat unmoving since their inception

So once again I ask you
Who are the gods you worship
What gods do you serve
Shall you pledge undying loyalty to them forever
Their rites without question a faithful follower observe
