Just like That

The earth turned no more
The eyes slowly darkened
And the soul grew cold

No reason for confession
It’s the conclusion of the game
Too late for regrets or apologies
As the grave calls your name

So just like that
Over time their face was forgotten and faded
A life ended that was often violent and jaded
Now silent still and alone
Another epithet among thousands
Written on stone

They say as a man lives so shall he die
As the mourners gathered in the rain
Drenched in sadness would surely cry
But there would no forgiveness'
No resurrection or time to question
The opportunity has passed for repentance and introspection

Just like that.
