Metamorphosis

Deep under water
In the dark and gloomy swell
Out of view of everyone
Alone and hidden well

The sun it comes up
To bright the starting day
A source of life and energy
That helps her on her way

Out of the rushes
A different form arises!
One that once was invisible
Is now full of surprises

The meek little nymph
Once silent and shy
Has gained her strong wings
And found freedom to fly

She's happy to be handled
As long as it's with care
But if she feels in danger
Handler beware!

Her now great big eyes
Open to new sounds and sights
Both mentally and physically
She conquers new heights

She's stronger than she comes across
She's found her inner strength
She flies above the danger
Keeping enemies at armslength

Her life it has now changed
Her life has now been won
She's found inner worth and beauty
And all because of the sun

From the once bleak and lonely shell
"Let me out" she used to cry
It took a while but finally emerged
A beautiful dragonfly
