Tumbleweed

For heaven’s sake,
Let me roll like tumbleweed —
Freely and frequently,
Having balls,
By night or day,
Now and then,
On the surface of the earth,
Smooth or bumpy,
Flat or rolling,
Paved eternally with freedom,
But altered by man
In his greed for control.
Let me rock and roll
Behind the clock,
Right in front of rolling hills,
Tumbling as I please.
I need no roof.
Oh, heaven’s my roof,
My guard,
From sun and rain,
My witness,
My solicitor,
Who has filed a case for me
To be free.
