toasted rye

today i toasted some german rye bread...

no... really... that's all that really
happened today...
i buttered the slice up and...
nothing ever came to being akin to: spectacular as this...

i never thought that rye bread could /
should be toasted...
i always thought: you don't need to sabotage
bread with toasting... akin to:
anemic white puffs of standard english toast...

back east? white? it equals: sourdough...
but german rye? toasted?!

the fwench as the pastry peoples...
concubines of dough...

come to think of it... sourdough and rye
are spectacular toasts...
while english white... is a sort of bread
best eaten colden...
with no teeth...
you really have to bite into it
with your gums missing teeth:
and since you still have teeth...
teasing off bites with your lips...

but who would have thought: toasted rye...
as revolutionary as:
fried rice: you plick! (uncle benny...
leathal weapon, take 4)...

about as "funny" as when the media
in england made a mistake about those
circa 40 dead "chinese" found in a freezer
in essex... who later "turned out" to
be vietnamese...
sure sure: same shit, "different" cover...
it's good to know that not too many
white males work in the media these days...
an honest mistake...
i'm like that all the time...
it's one chinese dead one minute...
it's another vietnamese dead another...
circa 40 dead is not
exactly the: "details"...

oogie-boogie:
and the hawking carricature of the bogus "3rd party"
of commentators.

toasted rye bread...
a zenith of a day like this?
can sustain a many more nadirs of future days
to come...
how else not to gravitate toward
this, current,
existential anaesthetic of bombast
apathy, worded?
perhaps i've been supposed to give a shit...
about too many trivial things...
to begin with? that would explain the truly
horrific: a subjectivity...

and one as barren and apathetic as this one?
i will never know:
how will i ever find, once more...
the banal trivialities of life...
readied for both print, bagel and book?
oh, right...

toasted rye bread!
if only i woke up today to implore myself
to hurt a pigeon today...
or drown an elephant...
something banal that requires
a circus synonym and a crowd...
spectacle of one:
one performer, an audience of one,
one critic...

so it goes.
