When the world becomes blind

When the world becomes blind,
truth stands unnoticed in the open,
naked and ignored.

Eyes turn inward,
reflecting comfort,
not consequence.

The cries of the broken
are swallowed by silence,
not for lack of volume,
but for lack of will to hear.

Hands still build towers,
but forget the bridges.
Feet march forward,
but trample what matters.

Justice becomes a whisper
buried beneath convenience.
Compassion,
a forgotten language.

And yet-
somewhere,
a child still learns to see
without eyes.
