Conversation with Grief

You arrive like a shadow cast by the soul,
not to harm,
but to guide.

I feel you settle in my chest,
not heavy,
just real.

You do not speak,
but I hear you
in the silence between heartbeats.

You are not the end,
but a door-
a passage the spirit must touch
to remember what it means to love.

I ask why the loss was given,
and you answer without words:
because love is eternal,
and pain is the echo of its depth.

You do not ask me to forget,
only to surrender
to what is sacred in sorrow.

In your presence,
I learn to listen
to the part of me
that still believes
in something beyond the body,
beyond time.

And when I rise again,
you do not follow-
but I know you remain
as a quiet witness
to all that my soul has held
and released.
