sitting at the table starving
I was drinking my tenth diet Coke
Quietly waiting for dinner to be arrived
I watched my grandniece taking out
All her dolls
As though, she was a proud mother
She was trying to show them to her uncle
Who lives in the city
But everyone's attention was
On her almost year-old sister
She was getting frustrated
And I felt her pain
As I sat staring at my Coke
Almost in tears
I felt lost since my baby dog died
However, I stopped my weeping
For I tried to smile
But even with family i felt alone
The solitude possessed my heart
