You used to punch me in the breast;
You left me, always, feeling distressed.
You wished and hoped upon me cancer;
You never were a romancer.
You once strangled me on the ground;
You were different when others weren't around.
My pain always made you happy;
No memory of you being sappy.
It finally stopped after all your pleading;
Your plans to wreck me succeeding.
But after I willingly gave;
I soon came to it a slave.
I'd cry at night, myself a doll;
I crumbled like leaves in the fall.
I wanted to, I needed to flee;
If only a piece of me didn't disagree.
There was times I'd give willingly still;
The dark truth about you I tried to kill.
My mind created a false version of you;
Why I did, I have no clue.
I tried to make you a better man;
I stayed long after I should have ran.
I prayed for help. a forceful hand;
To pry me away, to pull me out of the sand.
Surely someone understands?
