The Alibi Clock

In these days of digital time
Our grandfather clock is acting strange
It chimes one hour ahead of the face
They call this type of clock an alibi clock

Too heavy to carry to the clock shop
Too expensive for a clockmaker to visit
It remains there, an alibi clock
I have a grandfather alibi clock

No, it can’t really or truly talk
When it strikes four o’clock you see
It’s not correct; it’s really three

If the Tower Clock wished to confuse Big Ben
It would show nine when the bells toll ten.
