Will You Throw Me Dat Coconut

I’ve been waitin’ in the rain for the Zulu Nation...
Standin’ on the corner of Canal n’ Basin...
I want to see dat king n’ da marchin’ tramps...
My arms are tired o’ hangin’ from da street lamps...

Da bands are jammin’ and Mr. Big Shot be cool...
But I need a coconut or I’ll feel like a fool...
So if I shake my Mardi Gras butt...
Will you throw me dat coconut...

I got all da beads I ever could need...
So stop trying to make me yell n’ plead...
I don’t need no damn Muse’s shoe...
If I only catch one, den what’s dat gonna do...

I love da floats and da Purple Knights...
Everyone is dancin’ and dere ain’t no fights...
It’s so nice dat we all are gettin’ along...
And I’m havin’ fun just singin’ dis song...

But what I really need to make me smile...
Is to catch a coconut every once in awhile...
So if I shake my Mardi Gras butt...
Will you throw me dat coconut...

The Krewe of Tucks is where I normally ride...
And dat’s how I show my Mardi Gras pride...
If I try hard in life I could be anything...
But I hope one day to be da Mardi Gras king...

Now it’s time to just wait my turn... There are things in life I’ll just have to earn...
Now if I shake my Mardi Gras butt... Maybe I’ll finally catch me dat coconut...
